VILLAGE HALL
CHAIRMANS AGM REPORT 31ST JULY 2026.
MAINTENANCE AND PURCHASES
The Village Hall Trustees continue to meet regularly to ensure the Hall is looked after
with particular emphasis on maintenance, running costs and health and safety. Five-year
electricity safety check carried out this year and resulting recommendations acted upon.
Ceiling of porch replaced, thanks to Peter Winch for carrying this out.
New clock purchased for the front of the hall, has anyone noticed it? This was erected to
mark and remember the late Mr Mel Bugg who was Chairman here for 23 years and a
commemorative plaque has been put up by the front door.
CONTACT AND TRANSPARENCY
The Trustees welcome any questions or suggestions about how we run your community hall
and residents can contact any Trustee if they wish to raise a point.
For information all financial transactions have to be authorize by two account signatories
who are Trustees and the accounts are checked and scrutinised by an outside party every
year. Any large expenditure is approved by the whole committee.
FINANCES
The hall made a loss of £1353.36 this year due partly to the extra expense involving the
new clock.
Hall hire income, our main source of income, is on a par with last year but we are losing the
recycling income this year because of the new West Suffolk Council Policy on recycling.
Fortunately, the Parish Council has been able to subsidise the Hall again this year and we
are grateful to them for the £1000 they have given to the hall. This allows us to keep the
hall hire charges the same.
Although the hall is well used there is a lot more scope for increasing it9s use. We did have
a very lucrative booking from an education Charity but they have not got enough pupils at
the moment to carry on using the hall.
We do still have good reserves in the savings account of over £16000.
