The last month has been successful for the Saturday team with 3 wins and one loss.
Battisford visited Brockley on 18th of July and batted first posting a score of 186 all out off 43.1
overs with Tom Fenner taking 4 wickets. Brockley replied with 188 in 41.4 overs with Tom Fenner
carrying on where he left off with ball scoring 71 not out.
Brockley visited West Bergholt the following Saturday and put the home side into bat. Bergholt
posted 236 for 7 off 45 overs. Unfortunately, Brockley came up 20 runs short in the chase but only
lost 7 wickets and saw the overs out. Rob Doveston was the pick of the batters scoring 65.
Mistley were the visitors on Legends Day at the cricket Club. Having won the toss Mistley elected
to field, which they probably regretted with Brockley scoring 322 for 6 of the allotted overs.
Notable performances were the 104 from team captain Henry Whiley supported with 85 by wicket
keeper Simon Byford. Mistley were restricted to 158 all out in 36 overs with both Tom and Steve
Fenner taking three wickets each. A fine result on this special day for the club.
Thank you to all the past and present players and supporters of the club who were able to make it
along to the game.
The next game was away to Mildenhall who batted first and proceeded to struggle with the bat
scoring 135 all out in 29.3 overs. Bowling, Alex McCaffrey shone with 4 wickets with Bill Hill and
Charlie Sadler claiming two apiece. Brockley achieved the target of 136 to record the win in 24.5
overs with the loss of only 2 wickets. Rob Doveston was in the runs again with 51.
At the time of writing the Sunday 1s team top the Sunday Division 2 table by 24 points after 11
games with 3 to go. The only loss of the month came at home to Melton St Audry9s which was
surprising as Brockley had beaten them with only 8 players in the reverse fixture!
26th July was away at Bury St Edmunds who chose to bat first and were all out for 102 off 33 overs.
Ricky Meekings took 4 wickets, Spike Chapman 3 and Liam Grimwood 2. Quite often the low
scores are more difficult to chase down than the high ones, this game being a case in point. Brockley
struggled to 106 for 5 off 20.5 overs with Tom Fenner posting the highest score with 27.
Twinstead visited on the 9th August and were put into bat. Both Ricky Meekings and Steve Fenner
took 5 wickets each bowling Twinstead out for 166 off 38 overs. Only 2 wickets were lost in
Brockley9s reply with Noah Boreham, making his first appearance of the season, making 37 and
Rob Doveston top scoring with 67.
