Parish Council Update - June 2026
The parish council held its Annual Parish Meeting and Parish Council AGM on 14th May 2026.
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
The meeting was very well attended with good representation from the various groups and
organisations active within the village.
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT – CLLR. Dr. JULIE WYMER
My report focused on the two main projects that have taken up the most time and money since I
became chair in 2022.
Traffic Calming
Over the past 4 years we have been able to purchase a Speed Indicator Device (SID), two poles
and a solar panel to enable us to move the SID between 3 sites. We have also been successful in
getting the 40mph buffer zone between the village and Hartest installed as well as a monthly
police enforcement safety camera visit.
The SID has now been in place in Mill Road for almost 3 months and Cllr. Dinsey has been able
to look at the data recorded in the SID 3 see separate report in the newsletter.
We will move the SID to the Hartest end of the village in the next few weeks to see if the 40mph
buffer zone has had an impact.
Thanks go to Cllr. Ray Dinsey for staying the course over the past 4 years and getting us to this
point.
It is important to note that Cllr. Dinsey moves the SID from site to site by himself and any
additional help would be very much appreciated. Please contact Ray or myself if you can
help us with this matter.
Children’s Playground
I am pleased to report that the surface of the children9s playground will be completed in the next
few weeks. I am hopeful that the playground will be maintenance free for the next 5 3 10 years
and therefore require little or no spend. The fence has been repaired for the time being but will
need replacing in the next 5 years or so. Thanks go to Cllr. Barry Tyler for his ongoing
commitment to check the playground equipment on a weekly basis.
