Last month saw a mixed bag of results. The Saturday team took five matches to record
their first win of the season at Mistley. Standing out with the ball was Steve Fenner taking
5 wickets, 2 Maidens for 31 runs. Top scoring with the bat was Alex McCaffrey with 74
followed by Steve Fenner with 38 and Tom Fenner with 33.
Unfortunately, the Sunday 1st team9s first match of the season against Bardwell was
conceded by Bardwell the night before so the 19s got an automatic 20 points. Their next
game against Acton was played over 28 overs instead of the usual 40 due to weather
conditions. Brockley batted first posting 128. The standout with the bat was Jack Newdick,
another product of Friday Night Youth Training, posting 42. Best performance with the ball
was Ricky Meekings 6 overs 1 Maiden 17 runs for 1 wicket. Unfortunately, Acton managed
to reach a winning total with an over to spare.
The Sunday 2nd team got off to a good start with a first match win at home against
Elmswell. This was followed by a trip to Nowton. The standout performance was by Henry
Whiley scoring 137 not out with the bat. Liam Grimwood took 4 wickets and Jack Newdick
3. The team included three debutants from our Friday Night Youth training sessions, Corey
Wilson and Mia and Max Wenbourne. They all performed very well and looking forward
to their next opportunity to play.
