An Update on Traffic Speed in the Village
The Parish Council only have one SID (speed indicator device) and we have recently moved it from
the B1066 to Mill Road to help remind traffic of their speed. We will soon be moving it to the
Hartest end of the B1066 to see what the number of vehicles and their speed is at this location.
We will then be moving the SID between the three sites that we have to help remind drivers what
speed that are doing.
Where drivers can see the SID and get feedback on their speed, they generally slow down.
B1066 – 05/01/2026 to 22/02/2026
Entering the village from Bury, 5424 vehicles were recorded speeding over 30mph.
Leaving the village heading towards Bury 14679 vehicles were recorded speeding over 30mph.
On the B1066 84% of vehicles entering the village from Bury were at or below 30mph. Leaving
the village this had dropped to 56% of vehicles at or under 30 mph.
