Walking to Evening Prayer
Robin Drayton will again be walking to Evening Prayer on Sunday 19th July on the
path to the church from the village. Meet him at the top of the path near the Village
Green at 6.15pm if you would like to join him to arrive in time for the service at
6.30pm. Last month three people joined him on the walk.
Restoration Work on the Church Building
Every five years all Church of England Churches have to undertake an inspection of the
church buildings by an architect. This is known as the Quinquennial Inspection. Our
latest Quinquennial took place last year nd work was identified as needing doing on the
porch, the bell tower and the stained glass window. In order to get the work done we
needed to apply for grants and kindly Gillian Leader agreed to help us in this process.
We are delighted that the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust and the Belstead Ganzoni
have awarded us grants towards this work.
Grateful thanks to Gillian for helping us with this with her expertise and hard work. The
funds secured will contribute to the restoration work helping to secure the future of the
church.
A New Treasurer
We now have a new Treasurer. Sarah Baber has taken over from Geoffrey Baber. It is
interesting to note that we have only had two treasurers since 1942 when Betty Fisher,
mother of Geoffrey Fisher, took on the job. She was treasurer until her death in 2002
when Geoffrey Baber took over. A fine example of loyalty and commitment from them
both. Lots of thanks to Geoffrey for all his years of competently looking after the
church funds.
