Happy New Year to all readers and residents from the Parish Council
Parish Councillor Vacancy
An opportunity has arisen for a member of the community to become a parish councillor. We are an
active team of councillors with a 8can do9 attitude and a proven track record in delivering for the
community. If you can give us a few hours of your time, you would be welcome onto the team.
Please speak to any one of the councillors if you would like to know more and/or come along to our
next parish council meeting on 22nd January @ 7pm in the village hall.
Parish Council Meeting – 27th November 2025
Present at the meeting on 27th November were Cllr. Geoffrey Baber (Vice-Chair), Cllr. Barry Tyler,
Cllr. Sue Hudson, Cllr. Steve Holmes, Cllr. Felicity Driver and Cllr. Dr Julie Wymer (Chair), District
Councillor Sarah Pugh and two members of the public.
Apologies were received from Cllr. Ray Dinsey and County Councillor Bobby Bennett.
Projects for 2026/7 Budget and Precept Setting
As reported previously the two projects the parish council have been considering are:
1. To complete the surface of the playground.
2. Purchase fixings and solar panels for the speed poles.
Playground Surface
Several quotes were considered by councillors ranging from playgrass (£10k), a bonded and tarmac
surface (£19k) and rotavating, levelling, laying rubber matting and grass turfs (£3.3k), and a quote
from the original playground installer of £5.2k for a bonded rubber mulch surface. Councillor's
decided to accept the £5.2k quote for the bonded rubber mulch as there is little or no maintenance
required, aesthetically it would be more pleasing and provides good value for money.
Traffic Calming
Again, as reported, the parish council would like to move the speed indicator device (SID) to different
sites around the village. Fixings for the new speed poles and solar panels to power the SID are costed
at £1,075.
