Representative Bowls
The club were represented in the Suffolk Closed Fours and Triples competitions in November
and December. In the Fours Neil, Andrew, Gillian and Peter W won through the round robin
stage, won two more rounds to get into the semi-final where, although battling hard, they lost
7:3 to a strong Barking four.
Kevin, Andrew and Peter W were in the Triples. They won their round robin group but lost on
the last end by two shots to Claydon in the Quarter Final.
The Club Christmas Pairs competition was held on Wednesday 17th December.
Unfortunately, again due to illness, some club members were unable to take part. The 12 that
were able to attend took part in a different format where we all played four games with different
partners. Games were close and good natured. The four players with the most points went
through to the final. This was contested by Jean English, Kevin Fisk, Bob Double and Andrew
Hensby over 6 ends. After six ends the score was level meaning an extra end had to be played.
The outcome was Bob and Andrew winning by one shot. It couldn9t have been closer with all
four playing very good bowls.
Social Bowls (Non-Competitive)
The club continues to meet every other Thursday in the Village Hall 1400 – 1600.
Dates in January and February are as follows: January 15th and 29th, February 12th and 26th.
If you fancy trying something new in the New Year why not come along, all welcome. Tea,
Coffee, cake, biscuits and a warm welcome on offer.
County Carpet Bowls
Our three representatives were in action in November and December.
In November Cambridgeshire visited Suffolk for the opening match of the 25 / 26 season.
Cambridgeshire are a much-improved team and gave Suffolk a tough day of bowls with Suffolk
securing a 21:15 win.
December saw Suffolk visit Hertfordshire at Welwyn Garden City. Suffolk knew this was going
to be a very hard match and so it transpired with Herts winning 21:15.
Meanwhile Cambridgeshire entertained Bedfordshire, possibly the weakest of the six counties
behind Norfolk and Essex. Cambridgeshire only lost one game with a winning score of 34:2
