Brockley Carpet Bowls Club
Lots of games in November and December but the team was handicapped on a number of
occasions due to injuries and illness.
November got off to a good start with a very convincing win at Barrow, 8:2 with shots 43:29
in our favour. This was the best team display of the season on carpets which are always tricky
to play.
Karen, Steve, Irving & Andrew made a great start against Pam taking four on the first end and
were 7-0 up after three ends. Barrow fought back a bit but never got close and we finished with
an excellent 11-7 win.
Jackie, Gillian, Pete J & Kevin also made a great start against Michael. We mastered the tricky
mat very well, quickly went 6-0 up and finished very strongly for a massive 17-5 victory.
Jean, Pete W & Richard had a tough game against Jackie G and worked hard to keep it level at
5-5 after six ends but then we forged ahead taking three of the last four ends for a pleasing 10-6
win.
Bob, Andrew & Sue started OK and built some good heads, but Jan's wide-side demolitions
were clinical, and we were unable to prevent a 5-11 loss.
In the Joe Rice Cup, we had the second home leg against Woolpit taking a 6:4 advantage from
the first leg.
